Florida Fishing Regulations

Are no more complicated (or simple) than most other places. A good rule of thumb is to remember that most of the species in Florida waters have a size limit and a daily creel limit. The number of species you might hook up with while fishing on Amelia Island is too numerous to cover here, but we'll try and cover some of the more common ones that you might find on the end of your line.

Bluefish
Minimum size 12"
Limit 10 per person per day
Flounder
Minimum size 12"
Limit 10 per person per day
Spotted
Sea Trout
Not less than 15" or more than 20" except one fish over 20" per person per day. Limit 5 per person per day
Weakfish
Minimum size 12"
Limit 4 per person per day
Red Drum
Not less than 18" or more than 27"
One per person per day
Spanish
Mackerel
Minimum size 12"
Limit 15 per person per day
Black Sea Bass
Minimum size 10"
Limit 20 per person per day
Sheepshead
Minimum size 12"
Limit 15 per person per day
Whiting
No size or creel limit
Mullet
50 per person per day
